Session A - General Discussion Empty Sunset Speedway Restrictor Plates and reverse Tracks.

Post  TomCat7 Tue Feb 01, 2011 1:35 pm

I don't see why there needs to be a Restrictor plate on either Sunset Speedways.

In forza 3 there is no danger of the Stock Cars going a few more miles per hour.

I don't like racing the reverse tracks as their is none yet in the real NASCAR races.
Neither are the Reverse races used in the Xbox Live Multiplayer Oval Lobbies.

The main reason that I signed up for this series is that I miss Stock Car racing.

lol!

I know you have said this before TomCat. We made some changes that you have espoused in the past but not all. We are running restrictor on Sunset because we are following the lead of NASCAR. The ONLY races NASCAR runs restrictor plates are at Daytona and Talladega. It is a safety issue at the high speed super speedways. Obviously safety isn't so much a thing for us but we do make a stab at reproducing the NASCAR experience. I considered running the restrictor plate ONLY at Sunset as well but others wanted to mix it in for the variety (though if you don't look at your speedometer or your time it is pretty hard to tell which car you are in so for me it is a moot point). In the end we are running fewer restrictor plate races in the past.

Reverse tracks are an oddity for sure but in the end we only have 3 ovals to work with that have pits. So for the sake of variety we are still running reverse tracks. It gets pretty mundane running the same configuration week after week. I would love for Turn10 to put in more ovals so we could reduce the reverse tracks as well. I frankly could care less what happens in the public lobbies being foisted on us by Turn10 so I am not holding my breath.

And yes... we are going to do some Stock Car racing soon!

Wow Jalabo, I got my 750,000.00 Credit$ for 3rd place.

We now need Lewey and Junkyard to sign up. Also BOGAF and WStewart to keep the races hot.
I guess I better get my num 66 retired from the speedway and paint the 711 number on. Cool

Sedona Full would have been fun in the "Chase"

Jalobo,

Here is the thread after the series identifying the prize winners. I never asked for my prize credits but I did get my random T10 car. The drivers in red are the ones that got their prizes distributed (Lewis who donated his and TomCat and my Ferrari GTO). The others not in red didn't request their prizes. There is usually a time limited to respond (in this case 20 November).

Remember to ask at the end of the series so you are rewarded for your efforts.

I think this would be effective as well. Our EZT StockHatch Series 1 got featured in one of the week in reviews a week or so a go so figured I would throw the link out there for the series.

In my 4 lap qualifying runs I am consistantly in the 42.6xx range with the ocasional 42.5XX. I am going for the dodge here at this point. Might change by race day. What is everyone else planning? Or at least times?

Out of curiosity how much faster will you be in a tuned car over a stock tune? Just judging whether I suck or not Razz

Well not much... (well except you really need to minimize aero or forget it) BUT the problem is in Stock that we are dealing with tenths and hundreds differences... a couple tenths slower and you will drop a lobby. So every tweak helps, what it takes to maintain speed. Every twitch scrubs speed. Every pound of aero saps speed. Millimeters of tire flex... etc. But no pressure heheh. Everyone will get faster as the season goes just by a turn of the wrench here or there. In a race the tune isn't as important as being able to hold onto the guy in front of you... loose the draft and you are history. In practice we know it is possible for any of the cars to hold the draft of any of the other cars. Certain makes will be faster in qualifying but you got to choose which you want to go with in each race. Dodge is a bit of a wild card because of its tilt. It is drivable on reverse and road courses but its not where I would put it.

@Diablo, I ran the stock tune no adjustments and was 2 and half seconds slower then Neo and Gashi. I got a tip on a good tune and next session I was right there with them running the same times as both of them. It makes a huge difference in my opinion.
