Post  OneFastRedneck Sat Feb 18, 2012 3:19 pm

Welcome To Infineon Raceway
Race 3 - Infineon Nascar 2u46and
Infineon Raceway will mark 44 years of historic racing action in the Sonoma Valley during the
2012 season. Opened in 1968, then-Sears Point Raceway was constructed on 720 acres of
property that was a working dairy farm in the early 1900s. The facility hosted its first official
event, an SCCA Enduro, on Dec. 1 of that year. Since then, the facility has grown to 1,600
acres and expanded into one of the premier motor sports venues in the country, hosting 340
days of racing activity each year, including the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, NHRA Full Throttle
Drag Racing and the IZOD IndyCar® Series.

The twists of the road course and the lightning-quick quarter-mile drag strip have
hosted all of the biggest names and some of the most historic moments in racing history.

Well I appreciate everyone who spoke up there in the cluster fuck in turn 7 lap 1. SpeedMasterJoe was out of position on the right of the track so he decided to correct his position the make the turn by cutting across left directly in front of me and braked about an inch in front of me. I hit him, Diablo hit me, Dragon hit diablo, lunar hit dragon, dragon hit lunar... that 5 cars and not ONE person except me complained. That is fucked up guys. Second week in a row I have gotten the short end of the stick.

Hey guys. Most everyone here knows me and i love racing with all of you and i don't think i am known for complaining but i think we need at least a loose set of rules here. During tonights race someone decided to dive bomb into a corner past a few cars on lap 5 and took me out big time. after spinning me out and sending me to the back of the pack he simply went on his merry way, no "sorry dude", nothing.
After the race i came back here looking for some rules on wrecking someone but found none.
Is this how it is? Should i go back to FM2 style everything goes kind of public turneys? Because i can!!!
I am sorry to bitch about this and i do really appreciate what Redneck and company do here but i just want to run in good clean races.

If you want to watch the replay it's on my storefront(lap 5).

Post  F4H Diablo Mon Feb 20, 2012 1:20 am

After watching the replay, I have to apologize for my lack of response to the accident. First off, I should have waited for Viper to regain positioning and/or there should have been a restart. Second, we all should have spoke up and gotten the restart anyway. I'm sorry Viper, you're a teammate and that was stupid on my end for not speaking up or waiting for you to regain position.

I think the reason behind not having a penalty system is that there hasn't been a need. Perhaps a matrix with time penalizations would work, e.g. Racer A knocks Racer B off the track, Racer A doesn't wait up and it takes Racer B 15 seconds to get back on the track. At the end, 15 seconds is added onto Racer A's total time.

Post  EZT Neo 45 Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:41 am

I was knocked off track at Silverstone on Lap 2 or Lap 3. I didn't say anything because, when I inquired about rules governing illegally gaining a position (as defined on VM--and, I suspect we have come to expect in all events regardless of league), I was told there were none. It's a gentlemen's agreement, was the answer.

In any event, I understand about there not being a need for this rule. We have raced with each other (many of EZT with many of GLR) and somehow know the "rules of the road" when it comes to clean driving (not that there aren't accidents, because there are occasionally). The rules we raced by at the IFCA--now VM--were in the back of our minds even though we weren't racing there. However, with new people coming into FMC series that we have not seen (at least I have not seen) before, maybe the rules many of us have taken for granted, to a degree, need to be incorporated into the event rules with the penalty for breaking said rules. Otherwise, might as well go to the public lobbies where this sort of behavior is expected.

EZT DJ DNF because I lagged out, but on the topic of rules I think there should be some, when I have made a mistake and hit another car I have waited for them to get back on the track and pass me, I thought that's the way it worked, guess I was was wrong. I hope I don't lag out next week, that's only the second time I have lagged out in two years :-(

Big driving mistake on my part No , i Did apologize after the incident but some time people speak in the same time and maybe you have not get it, very sorry for again puckhead for that incident , all my fault.

In real life racing championship, incident like that happen all time (blowout tire, mechanical failure, no brake, oil or coolant on track and driving misjudgement, just watch youtube, there are plenty of vids of racing incident.
Angry move is different, if someone kick your rearside bumper on the straightway, there is a need of a penalty !! But since racer on this league seem pretty respectfull with each other, i don't think anyone will do that !!

I have been hit at the very first race in bernes alps, i get to the back of the pack , then i have make fast lap every lap and finish 6th out of 9th, i have take this like a normal race incident, i keep focus to get upfront.

I have really enjoy yesterday race, especially the 2 last lap with fastlane, ... in the end, fastlane win the battle Smile

Race 3 - Infineon Nascar Empty Re: Race 3 - Infineon Nascar

Post  GLR Viper58 Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:03 pm

Several above have identified our assumptions. We haven't really set any rules governing race behavior because we all kinda "grew-up" with the IFCA and later VM rules. I know that I kinda expect the same behavior since after all nearly all of us run both places. Stuff happens and as you know my hands are not clean with regard to driving errors. In this instance SpeedwayJoe made an error by cutting in front of me and braking (early as well) leaving me no place to go. I tried to cut back inside but it was too late as he then hit the brake. That is fine, he made an error like we all do from time to time. I did wait for him to get his car turned back around since technically I did hit him. But it is clearly stated in the rules about restarts. Redneck did ask several times and I was the only one to say anything (even Speedway Joe was quiet and he was facing the other way). In review this should have been a restart had others simply spoken up. While I agree that I would like to see the same respectful competitive racing this group routinely engages in... I personally have an expectation of myself and everyone I race with that driving errors not be taken advantage of... If you hit someone and knock them off the road or out of shape, you can't keep going taking advantage of your transgression. Its not supposed to be demolition derby. I think the vast majority of times we are all respectful, apologize when we screw up, and don't take advantage but that is two weeks in a row that I have lost time and position after someone else made an error. This time exacerbated by ignoring both the written rule and the host (redneck) asking how many cars were involved. We can do better... I'm now officially off my soapbox and have calmed down again.

Post  Midnite Rider Mon Feb 20, 2012 4:52 pm

Yeah, there should have been a restart for you Viper, you should have spoken up a little louder and called for it. I know that when I have hit people unintentionally and gained an advantage for it I have waited for the person I hit to get back around me and it has caused me to lose several places not just the one I gained. We have had numerous incidents such as this and I think for the most part everyone gives the place back or the person hit just says F#@* it and lets you go on. I think the majority of us who have raced together before have that kind of rules in our heads when we race and try to abide by them. We should probably, somewhere on the sight, make a short post as to the behavoir that is expected of participants in our series. We do not want public lobby racing here (I speak for the other Admins, I believe). While our rules may not be as strict as VM or the IFCA as far as what is considered acceptable for staying on the track (ie corner cuts or overruns) I think we expect everyone to conduct themselves honorably, at least I do. I always go into a race with the treat others as you want be treated way of thinking and I think the majority of us do that. If there is a specific incident it can always be protested and reviewed by our racing officials who can make a judgement and remedy it. If there is a particular driver that is causing an issue then that can be remedied as well. Just because our rules are not spelled out in black and silver doesn't mean we don't have any and accept that kind of unsportsmanship.

Ok off my soap box now. There was some good tight racing in our lobby and my damn headset caused me to lose about 2-3 spots. Thankfully Mrs. Midnite came to my aid and helped me get my headset back up and working only after about 4-5 laps, sorry I kind of jumped out of the pits on you there GLR FACEPALMER. I saw you as I was exiting but could not tell you I was and we avoided any contact anyway. Just sorry for it, I'm sure you were surprised I came out then. Glad we were able to slip past like ships in the night. Wink

I'm over it speedway. Thanks for the apoligy, if i heard you during the race i wouldn't have posted.I was surprised to see you drive off but your new here and like some of the guys that have been around a while stated, when you wreck someone the rule of thumb is that you give up your spot to that person but again its not a written rule here and you may not have been aware.
No worries though, like i said, i'm over it.

Post  SPEEDWAY inc Mon Feb 20, 2012 9:40 pm

Simple question : why we don't run the race with damage to simulation instead of cosmetic ?

There is such kind of penalty there, if you ran into someone, your car physic will be affected, so your lap time will be, then you will have to pit stop to repair, lost some time and so on .

For sure the one getting hit will have some damage too, but not as much as the hitter.

Racer will think twice before trying to make reckless pass and risking to screw up the front end !!

Running cosmetic damage allows for a little bumping and banging without major consequence and also allows for a more laid back race. Plus there tends to be lag within rooms and lag spikes ruin races. Trust me, it's no fun driving along and then bam, your car is toast and the person "responsible" doesn't even know what happened Evil or Very Mad
