Built the car last night and retrieved the correct placards from the storefront. Untuned the car feels planted even at high speeds. Testing on Indy last night proved it is very capable of running flat around the entire course with slight throttle adjustments to compensate for either a high or low line. I did notice that it scrubs about 10-12 mph between the corner entry of 1 & 3 and the exit of 2 & 4. Perhaps a final drive adjustment can keep that from affecting straightaway speed or at least allow the car to pull on the short shoots between the corners.

Once I get the car painted I'll post pictures of top and side to ensure it meets the requirements.

Played around with the car last night for an hour or so. The default tune is pretty good but after a few laps the tires get very hot in the front and it develops a nasty push. Still controllable but at the cost of about 12 to 15 mph on corner exit. Not good. It took several camber adjustments to even out the right front tire and balance the rears. Eventually I had the temps even and consistent so I'm pleased with that effort.

I tried several different aero tweaks once the alignment was set. Minimum downforce makes the entire car feel floaty and causes the nasty push to occur but for a different reason, lack of mechanical grip. Deep down I think that will rear it's ugly head if a train of cars goes barreling into a turn drafting each other. I know for a fact that the NASCAR's lose front aero efficiency when you try to turn in nose-to-tail. I added aero back in 5% increments front and rear until it settled back into a groove but overall it wasn't much faster than the default settings. A couple of MPH will make a difference per lap over the course of a long race so I'll leave it where it is for the sake of speed and not go any less for the sake of grip. A nice compromise if you ask me, and I know, I know, you didn't ask me.

Gearing is still up in the air. Default you stay at the top of 5th gear with 3.44 final drive. I think that puts you just shy of 200mph without a draft heading into the initial turns before the short shoots and an exit speed from 181 to 187 depending on a high or a low line and the amount of scrub from corrections. Surely optimizing all 6 gears would be better right? I'm not convinced. I set the gearing up to 3.90 for a test run and was pegged on the limiter in 6th way too soon. Backed it down near 3.73 (yes I use real world ratio's for testing so I can keep track of incremental changes) That seemed to work a bit better and I was right back to the same corner entry speeds. However!!! The acceleration between the exit of the initial turns and the end of the short shoots was decreased and I was in the mid to high 170's on corner exit. I guess if you can maintain your speed the 5 or 6 speed will work but I'm going out on a limb and sticking with a 5 speed for the perceived acceleration gains and slightly faster corner exits.

Lastly, be sure to practice pit entry and exit. I found that if I look in my rearview too early and try to merge up onto the track I will get dangerously close to the sticky grass at pit exit. Getting onto the track early helps set up turn 2 and that will have between a 1 and 2 second difference on your pit-in lap if you get it wrong.

Every second counts right. The way I see it sticking with minimal aero will gain about 3 to 4 mph on the top end, better alignment will maintain almost a 10mph corner exit advantage, and a good reentry onto the track will net a maximum of 2 seconds on the pit lap. Add it all up and it will still come down to who makes the least mistakes.

One last thing. I scraped the wall on corner exit twice, just twice, and lost nearly 18mph due to aero damage. You CANNOT FIX aero damage on a pit stop. Clean racing and car preservation will keep us all in the race. If not the person up front with the clean nose will run away with it. Just sayin, your mileage may vary.

No worries. As much as I like to have an advantage, nothing beats good close racing. The worst thing is when someone has a hard time with a car and ends up not having any fun in the process. Mostly I was just thinking out loud and seeing if anyone here had similar results, you do test don't you?

I do time permitting, I just don't seem to have as much time as I like to practice. Thanks for the heads up Fit, look forward to giving that setup a turn or two.

Hey guys I got my computer back up and running so I'm able to fully navigate all the forums again, before I was limited on time and missed out on seeing a lot of what was going on.

I'm signing up for this series but can't commit to 100% attendance due to work, just missed the first race anyways. I'll make sure to post in each thread whether I'm racing or not.

Midnite - Sorry I didn't send a tune over for you to try out. I'm kind of glad I didn't though. I thought I had the car sorted but qualifying really opened my eyes to how slow I was. Nearly two seconds off the pace in my qualifying room. Having to sacrifice a few MPH for higher speeds lost more time than I thought. (I also didn't know qualifying was collisions off so I lifted to keep from contacting another racer.) Instead of struggling through 50 minutes with a poor handling car I went into crisis mode and retuned the thing in the time between qualifying and the race start. Should have known to try both extremes before settling on a tune but I didn't so its my fault. High downforce was key. Not just a blatant full max adjustment but that is where I started. I think I ended up with 350ft and 650rr. However, the extra load started to overheat the tires which lead to higher temperatures and slight loss of grip. Once I lowered the tire pressures the car was at a point that I could barely lift going into the first turn and then hold it WOT until the entry of turn 3. I was only lifting twice a lap.

I doubt it was enough to overcome a 2 second per lap deficit but I was easily faster than my qualifying time by a full second when I got the invite to my lobby.

Your setup worked well dude, although I could keep up with you there was no chance of me getting the slingshot past you. Great race m8. Looking forward to the next one.

The second heat was a real nail-biter for me Nelly. Once you were within striking range I started to worry you would pass me by and not look back. After seeing how the cars reacted around each other it was clear that there would be no easy pass. I was relieved when I discovered how much push the lack of downforced caused you going into the turns. I'm sure you noticed that I was worming my way down the straights to keep you out of my draft but that was costing me time and corner entry speed. I had a feeling that you wouldn't be able to get past me with about 4 minutes to go so I just put my head down and concentrated on hitting my turn in marks. Luckily I saved my biggest mistake for the last corner and had to lift twice in that section just as the timer ticked to zero. It was a great race.

Whatever happens in the next 7 rounds this is gonna be the one I'm gonna remember great fun. Just wish I'd saved the replays from both heats though.

I have the first race replay and will send it to you Nelly, unfortunately I did not get a chance to save the second race. It's ok Fit for one of my GLR team mates was kind enough to send me a tune which I used last night and it worked well for me in the second race. The first race I was involved in some bumping which caused me to loose places but the second race worked much better seeing as I stayed outta harms way in it.

Points are outlined in the Series Details post on top of this board. Your two second place finishes will net you a decent amount of points, plus bonus points, plus attendance points.
