After being chided by Shooter (correctly Razz ) I opened this thread to respond on the Fanatec wheel. I know GLRmikem, myself and now GLR Puckhead have it for sure.

They have several flavors but the current one compatible for the XBox is the GT2 and the Turbo S. The full deal has the club sport pedals which are very nice and machine metal and incredibly rugged. The Turbo S no longer seems to be listed in the price list. The GT2 plain vanilla is $249. Standard pedals (plastic) are $49 and the clubsport pedals are $199. My set (Turbo S) was a little over $500 (ie not cheap but then I have 4 deal $99 Microsoft wheels over the same amount of time). I see there are other accessories now that I wasn't aware of (carbon shifters, changing colors of the pedals, tuning kits etc). I also got the more rigid table clamp ($40) which is very sturdy.

Anyway you can browse the site at Fanatec and feel free to ask if you have additional questions.

I may have contributed to that chatter in the wrong thread as well so I PM'D Bullet some info earlier today. Anyway, I thought I'd share that info for would be buyers of Fanatec products myself. First, There is an 8 to 10 week back log on the GT2 wheel. They simply can not keep up with the demand. So if you want the wheel when FM4 drops, pre-order your wheel well in advance. A few side notes as well...
1.If shifters are your thing, the majority of Fanatec users say that they dislike the current shifter set that Fanatec offers. Most say that they're garbage and that they feel cheap and toy like. Fanatec will soon be releasing a set of Club Sport shifters that are supposed to be be much more realistic. I tried the current shifters and did not like them at all, but my opinion should be taken with a grain of salt as I am just a beginner to sim racing and my knoweledge is very limited. Just know that there is a lot of negative feedback out there on the current shifters.
2.Fanatec dropped a new special edition FM4 wheel at E3 earlier this month. Details are limited at this point, but there are supposed to be a few big improvements (particularly with the FFB system) with this new wheel. Since this is being branded as a Forza wheel, I don't know if it will cross platform to the PC or the PS3 like the GT2 will. So keep that in mind.
3. If you go with the GT2 wheel, there is a dongle key available which will give you wireless capability for the PC and the PS3. Fanatec users also recommend ordering an extra load cell for the CSS pedals if you go with them.

Viper already covered the "optional" clamp, but I did want to point out that the wheel is ready to be "hard mounted" to your racing rig if you have one. I believe the wheel utilizes 6mm screws which are not provided because Fanatec does not know how thick your mounting surface is.

Racing "pods" or "cockpits" is a whole other can of worms and I have info on a really cool one that you can make yourself if you don't have one already. Hit me up if ya want to know about that.

Note my brother already destroyed one wheel hard mounting and burying the screws too deep into the wheel base... fortunately they sent him a new one. I the table floating around on the FM.NET site. I will take pictures at some point as it came out pretty nice. I could have hard mounted it but I liked adding the adjustabilty to the wheel angle.

The shifters are crap. They are plastic and a very inconsistent feel (H-shifter is ok into 3rd and 4th but is very taught going into 1st and 2nd and 5th and 6th.) The sequential shift level is ok but still junky plastic compared to everything else. Machined shifters would be a welcome add on however... you can't beat the speed of paddle shifters when you are competing against someone shifting with a button... It take FOREVER to change with a shift level.

I read a few horror stories about people doing exactly what your brother did. That's awesome that Fanatec sent him another wheel and goes a long way with me as far as how they take care of their customers. You can bet that I'll be all over that when I mount the wheel to my rig. Very Happy
